I’m so excited to write this. Although technically this isn’t my first Sims meal I made but well it’s the first one that I will post. I actually wanted to do this for a long time, before I went offline. Heck before the renovations but you know life got crazy. I did make the scrambled eggs and bacon before going offline but the quality of the pictures were horse shit and I didn’t feel like being online anymore. Anyway I made it again when I returned to the real world with responsibilities but my lazy ass decided to dump the bacon and eggs into one pan and well the bacon didn’t get all crispy and I still really hate scrambled eggs. So I figured why don’t you just start with something you actually like to eat? Mac and cheese! You already knew this because you saw the title and I’m still mucking about with the introduction.
To start off, I’m absolutely obsessed with cheese like sign me up honey but my husband loathes it. So since I always cook for us two together, I stopped adding any cheese to our food. I now only sprinkle some cheese on the top and call it a day. Growing up, both of my parents didn’t shy away from cheesy food. Its apart of me. Heck my mom and I used to fight over the cheese. We would buy a big piece of cheese for the month and cut massive slices to snack on every day. Cheese never lasted in our house but well since my husband can’t even stand to touch it, well let’s just say things are different now. I still like Mac and cheese but I only get it every few months and the recipe I follow is super simple. I tried to make fancy Mac and cheese for this challenge. Normally I just cook the pasta, spurt some mayo in and add some cheese and call it a day.
3 types of cheese: old, young and mozzarella (all grated)
Italian cheese sauce for pasta
Seasoning: salt, pepper and herbs
- I cooked the pasta till it was minutes away from being perfectly cooked before I drained them and threw them over in a oven bowl.
- I then added half of the Italian cheese sauce before adding a handful and very generous amount of all the three types of cheese.
- You can’t forget your seasoning so I added salt, pepper and rosemary herbs before giving it a good mix.
- I then popped it into the oven at 180˚C for 15 minutes.
It was ridiculously easy to make and tasted quite nice. I added herbs at the end and ate about half of the bowl before I hit my cheese limit for the day. In the Sims game it looked just as easy. The Sims character, let’s call her Susan, immediately moved to the oven top, threw the pasta in the pot and added the seasoning there. A few seconds later she tipped the pan over into a plate and the meal was done.
I figured I should rate it somehow so here goes.
Taste: 8/10 – It was just too much cheese and I don’t like the aftertaste of the sauce. I definitely won’t buy it again.
Look: 8/10 – It looked pretty damn nice in the end. Specially with the herbs at the end. Professional quality. Don’t quote me though.
How easy it is to cook: 10/10 – It’s really easy and quick to make Mac and cheese. You can definitely make this on the quick at home for dinner.
I hope you enjoyed the first meal for this blog series. There is quite a few meals in between that’s easy and something I already make but more than half of the things I have to Google to find out what the heck they are so those should be super interesting. Oh and yes I know the pasta I used isn’t macaroni but it’s so difficult to find gluten free macaroni pasta in the supermarkets nearby. I really didn’t want to order online and pay shipping cost. Pasta is pasta in my books.
Thank you so much for reading and I will see you in a click!
PS. I’m sorry for the weird spacing with the one image. I literally played around trying to fix it for ten minutes and everything that normally works isn’t well working. The annoying part it looks good in the well writing part but once I publish (preview) it does this stupid space thing. Screams.
